The changes every pair of glasses make:
- Each frame uses approximately 20g of recycled nylon fishing nets, equivalent to recycling 3 square meters of discarded fishing nets
- The production process reduces carbon emissions by about 75% compared to traditional materials
- For every 100 pairs of recycled fishing net glasses, approximately 1kg of plastic is prevented from entering marine ecosystems
Ocean recycled nylon is a plastic material made from recycled fishing nets collected from the world's oceans. Damaged fishing nets may flow into the ocean and become part of Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP), which refers to plastic waste that could potentially end up in the ocean. The process of recycling ocean fishing nets includes collecting discarded fishing nets, washing them, sorting them by color, shredding the nets into thin layers, and then melting and processing them into new materials.
